As a long time fan of the MX5 chassis I was really excited when I got a phone call to build an MZR 2.3 ltr for a customer’s 2006 MX5. On top of some neat goodies in the engine we were going to be turbo charging the car.

I can say that this car is one of the most enjoyable cars I have driven in a very long time. Putting out over 300 whp the car is an absolute blast to drive.

Specs

Cylinder Head:

5523 Race spec port and polish
5523 Spec MLS head gasket
5523 casting flash removal
5523 3 angle valve – All valve seats hand lapped
Valve seat blended to valve bowl
Short radius side of valve bowls smoothed and blended into port floors
Port size increased moderately on intake and significantly on exhaust
Head gasket surface hand finished (1200 grit)
OEM valve retainers and keepers

Weisco Pistons – 9.5:1 – 0.5mm oversize – Forged side relief
